Stayed in the garden annex which was pleasant enough with a comfortable bed, ensuite and toiletries, all clean and everything you need for a pleasant stay. Breakfast freshly cooked but no sausage! Good location close to a railway station, local high street and bus stops.

Loved that this bed and breakfast was not right in city, but yet only a short walk to train, so very convenient! Breakfast was great, Cal cooked to order or you could just grab a fresh croissant. Our bathroom (not in room) was huge, with a big old tub! In addition to kettle,  many coffees, teas, cookie in room

Quiet, charming

Spent three nights at Melrose House, a quality B&B. Large comfortable bedroom, Breakfast is cooked to order
food and portions first class. It is a family run B&B and the they make you feel at home. Will be going again next time I am in London, .

Can't go wrong if you visit Melrose House

As a local business I have used this hotel on a couple of occasions.  Although the accommodation is adequate, the issue is always booking.  The service isn't friendly and it is difficult to book.  You may call up and ask about dates and secure them but I have had the owner/manager threaten to cancel my booking because I haven't paid in advance (not true - all paid by BACs transfer) and the latest is even though dates requested and then called back to confirm - you get no response and then when you call or email again everything is booked up.  All of this done with a less than welcoming attitude. All I require is professionalism but surely, if you are working in hospitality, surely you need to be hospitable?

Difficult to book and unfriendly

Nice B&B.  Spacious room (room6).  Bathroom a bit tiny. Good bed.  Room was extremely hot, but luckily they provided a ventilator.  Cooked breakfast was very good.  A 15 min walk to Penge West station ( next to Bridge House Pub) for the underground to Canada Water.  So, the B&B is perfectly situated in a quiet area.  Value for money: 70 pounds per night!!!

I was in need of a stopover around Victoria and happened across the Melrose Hotel.
While the room was modest and functional, you get what you pay for in London. The service was absolutely five star, lovely staff and the property was very clean.
Absolutely no complaints & will certainly stay again.

London business stopover

This little B&B is lovely a home from home.  I would recommend this place as it is quiet and not far from places.  Will book there again. This little place is family run grate breakfast and clean rooms.

So frieandly

We have been trying for a month to get a booking at this hotel - looking to rent out a number of rooms for a special occasion. We have been persistently ignored, either on the phone or by email. Such a shame to be treated this way as we had been looking forward to staying there.

Couldn't even get them to book us in

We chose this hotel because of the good reviews! But in fact, we were expecting a disaster! 10 minutes after our arrival, the door was finally opened. A wave of grease (which is still very nice to say) and cat smell hit us. A girl of about twelve years old led us into a living room. What we missed at this place unfortunately was the sign private, which the lady of the house was not amused about. She finally allowed us to park our pocket, as we were already there in the morning. But the next thing to come is to be paid: when we left very early at 19:30 we had to rest all the water, but our modern room was so refreshed. We were greeted early in the morning with our modern hands.

Where do the good reviews come from?

To celebrate my son's graduation, we stayed overnight in this b&b. I must say that by English standards it is clean, only a bad note and that they do not clean the room during your stay at the maximum they refine the beds. But all in all it is not bad, comfortable beds and breakfast is typical English, so for those who are not used to eggs, bacon and sausage it is a scarcity. The area is quiet even in the evening and comfortable at the train station.
