I have stayed at the Tavistock many times and always found it a reasonably-priced and well-situated base from which to explore London. I will, however, not be going back. On my most recent visit, someone left a pair of dirty underpants on my nightstand while I was out. Staff could offer no explanation and barely attempted an apology.

I have stayed at this hotel most weeks since January 2018.  Booking is best done direct on their website and the hotel is one of about 6 in a group who operate in the same general area of Holborn and all at fixed rates for the rooms, highly unusual in London. The Tavistock offers a single for £85 and a double for £111 this includes free wifi and breakfast. There is usually last minute availability, which I tested during weather disruption and got rooms on the day no problem.  The location is excellent 5 minutes from Euston Station, about 10 minutes from Kings Cross and Holburn tube is about 10 minutes away.  Close to a range of restaurant's and shops, you couldn't ask for a better location.  Breakfast is excellent, good choice, rooms are a little dated but always very clean and they are refurbishing some rooms.  The room service is exceptionally good value with a £2 tray charge and a burger at just £8, quality again excellent. What really makes hotel though are the rally lovely staff, so pleasant and helpful, and genuinely offering excellent hospitality.  I will be staying here until August and look forward to having this as my second home for that period. Recommended for tourists and business travellers alike.

Best kept secret in London!

Tavistock was a very nice hotel for a first timer, lovely outside view, good clean bedrooms, nice breakfast, although, i would have liked a smile from the waiters now and then, they all looked miserable. The bathtub was a really a nice surprise for me, the bath filled up in a matter of minutes which allowed me to have a nice relaxing bathtime. They also have free wi-fi. One thing I recommend though is to try and get a room away from the kitchen, we were placed above it and all night we use to smell Indian food.

Tavistock Nay and Yay

We stayed for 4 nights when we had only booked for 2  Because of travel disruption we decided that it was more convenient to stay the two more nights where we were because we liked the hotel and it was convenient to do the extras from this base
We were advised to book on line even though we were in the hotel !, 
I would certainly come to this hotel again as everything was totally unpretentious and that includes the staff.

Value for money

Stayed for one night.  Nice clean room, it was quite warm and we couldn’t find anywhere to turn heating down, once windows opened it was bearable. Breakfast nice, very friendly staff.  Great central location.  Will definitely return. 

Lovely hotel

We stayed at the Tavistock as part of a package deal and this was our fifth time there. The location is perfect as you are within walking distance of several underground lines,the British museum and other sights as well as lots of places to eat. We know that the Tavistock is a no frills hotel and the rooms feel rather small and cramped (perhaps because we are now used to staying in more upmarket hotels) but the room was warm and the shower was powerful and hot and we asked for a rubber mat for the bath and it was provided straight away. The continental breakfast is not great but adequate and the breakfast room was not warm enough but it was exceptionally cold weather. The staff are helpful and wifi is now available in all rooms. The instructions to access the wifi didn't work but the IT support available by phone sorted out any problems. Gavin and Mark at the porters desk were particularly helpful getting a staple out of my shoe which required some effort and a variety of tools. That was much appreciated.

Good basic hotel

We arrived at 1, and were happy to receive an early checkin. The Tavistock is in a great location for exploring the city - easy walking distance from many wonderful places. Our room was spacious  and well equipped, dated but very comfortable and spotless with excellent linens and towels. We were welcomed with such friendly smiles and greetings to an abundant breakfast  - with both cold and hot items. We would certainly stay here again!

Great Location and Service with a Smile

A hotel suitable for accommodation in London. It stands out for many things, but the truth is that nothing is lacking. Brilliant location, a stone's throw from everything. Small, but complete room. Comfortable bed (and more pillows). Reduce, but acceptable bathroom. No noise, cold or inconvenience. Good care. And passing breakfast, no alarms or shiny qualities (the coffee is really bad, of course). Slightly high price, but I suppose this is London. Ultimately, a solid option. Not perfect enough, but more than enough.

The right option in a very good location.

If you're flying to Heatrow it's a perfect option, with a subway stop almost in front of the Picadilly line.For what hotels in London are the quality price ratio is great, considering that you only go to the hotel to sleep and a little more.Central, personal friendly, good breakfast, the British Museum next door and Covent Garden a 15-minute walk away.It has become my London home once a year, for the last 15 years, and I don't think it's going to change at this point.

Excellent location and price

The hotel was well located and had a great view of the park. Early in the morning the park was opened and you could eat protein, but the birds singing in London in the spring was something. The room was cleaned every day, the towels changed, shampoo and air conditioning were all filled (if we spent). In the room there was a teacup, tea, cream, coffee. Next to Tesco, you could buy candy and fruit and have a bite at any time. The room was small, but it was enough for me and him and the baby. The heating was regulated, you could make it quite warm if you froze at night.
