I was staying in January. I really enjoyed the service at this Hostel. The girls'administrators are very attentive and punctual. Nearby is the railway station, the Council Square, the famous head of Lenin.

It's a great place.

Thank you very much, the hostel is excellent, and a special thanks to the responsive and attentive staff, all at the same level, keep going in the same spirit, there are separate rooms, there are common rooms, shower and toilet facilities for all rooms, no lines at all.

The hostel lives up to its name.

The hostel is very clean and cozy. It's in the center of town, next to the train station. There's a bus station nearby. The hostel's administrators are friendly. They 'll tell you where and how to get there.

The Commander

So I was late for the train and had to wait 6 hours somewhere before the next train. Since I didn't want to sit at the train station at night, I decided to settle in this hostel, which is very close to the train station. My choice fell into the one-bedroom room, as sleeping in the same room with three or seven other neighbors was for me on the edge of good and evil. Basically, I expected it to be much worse, but it turned out to be quite sleepy. The hostel itself was more like a multi-room/communal apartment where all amenities are common (toilet, shower, kitchen, TV, laundry room). I think the price/quality ratio here is normal, but for me this is a more short-term option (more than 1 day).

Good hostel near the train station.

The great thing about this hostel, from arriving in Ulan Ude, was the location. It was located immediately opposite the train station; given that we arrived at around 5am on the overnight train from Irkutsk, we were glad to have the place to dump our bags off at while we awaited the check in time. Fortunately for us, the room was already free when we arrived and just needed cleaning up - so the friendly lady on the front desk let us check in immediately and go to sleep, which is the sole reason this hostel gets 4 stars from me instead of 3. 

She spoke no English and neither did the rest of the staff from what we saw - this wasn't a problem for us, but may be for others. The older lady who checked us in was really friendly but the rest of the staff were kind of cold towards us and snappy towards other guests, so the welcome was a little bit marred by this.

The room was comfortable though. We booked a twin room but it was no problem to push the two beds together in order to make a double. There was a plug socket above one of the beds but not the other; since we moved the two together this was also no problem, but if you keep the room as a twin room again this may prove to be. The only problem we had with the room was the wifi, which was absolutely terrible; Russian wifi seemed mostly sketchy at best anyway, but the wifi in the hostel here was some of the worst we encountered on our whole trip across the country. If you're trying to work online while travelling, or even just want to stream a film or some tv in the evenings, this is definitely not the hostel for you.

The kitchen was quiet, but usable. There are no signs up saying that alcohol is prohibited, but we heard one guest being shouted at by staff and threatened with eviction for bringing booze back to the hostel. We managed to get away with it by drinking in our room quietly though, and no one said anything about us storing a bottle of vodka in the freezer overnight.

We didn't see many other guests while we were there, and the few we did see seemed mostly to be locals instead of fellow travellers. There are only two showers and two toilets though, so this meant that we never had to wait a turn for either. Still, a little bit more life to the place would have been nice. Otherwise, it was a small, quiet, and friendly hostel; not somewhere I'd consider a place I must stay in again, but equally not somewhere I'd mind going back to. The train station was right next door, and it's about a 10 minute walk to the central square of the city which has a few good bars and places to eat nearby too, and there is a cheap supermarket on that walk for basic supplies as well.

Nice enough

It's close to the city centre and the train station, walking distance to the attractions, public transportation stops, clean, very attentive and caring staff, stable Wi-Fi, laundry and drying facilities.

A great hostel in Ulan Ude.

One if the coziest hostels I ever stayed. Clean, stylish design, staff speaking English (not a standard in Russia) and petfect location close to the bus terminal and 130 Kvartal. Easy access from/to the train station: tram #1 - 15R, taxi - 300R

Small and cute

Excellent location, just opposite to the train station and not too far from the city center and walking distance - 45min to buddhist temple Datsan 'Rinpoche Bagsha'  Cleanliness at its top, with perhaps the best bathrooms  of hostels I ever stayed. Bike hire possible for 500R. Unfortunately staff doesn't speak English wich unable them to give you tourist advices etc.

This hostel is located within 5 mins walking distance from the main station. It's situated over the back of the station by the bridge which will save you having to walk around the block.

The hostel accommodation was great. The dorm I stayed in was a six bed and everyone in there was lovely. 

There is a kitchen facility with electric hob, fridge, freezer, kettle and microwave. 

Sacha was brilliant and really helpful as were the other staff who assisted us with our questions.

The only negative I would say is that there is a lack of communal space. On one evening some of us were talking in the kitchen as we cooked and we were being told to be quieter by a member of staff when it was only 21:00. I found this to be somewhat oppressive. However it's because walls are paper thin and rooms are very close in proximity. There is also only one shower for the whole of the hostel which in my opinion is inadequate. 

The hostel certainly lives up to its name as it was very clean. It is also a good hostel for those who are above 25 years who are travelling as there was a good mix of people in their thirties and forties whilst I was there. 

All in all it was good experience!
