The family living 200 meters away, we wanted to be independent, they suggested that we stay at Domitys Le Gallion d'Or. Very nice surprise. The staff at the reception are very friendly, available and friendly. We had booked a two-room for three nights. We found the decoration of the room very nice, contemporary, tasteful. The bathroom very comfortable, very large, with an Italian shower, which is appreciated when you get older. The bed is very comfortable. The household is done every day and it is very clean. The grandchildren are every meal. We couldn't enjoy the menus but we will see the menus that are very nice. We returned to this residence when we served Royan.

So calmly insured pool that for us at least an hour every day housekeeping done every day as well as the bed and the trash cans without extra so no housekeeping to do at the end of stay (super) very spacious apartment the only toilet bemool in the bathroom no climate but recent construction so not too much heat otherwise we could go back there without worry

We had no idea what to expect and the wonderful young lady at reception became more and more uncomfortable as my husband was asking what was included with our room.  It is breakafast (bread and croissants), fruit juice, jam/honey/butter and a hot drink. We drunk our juice and took the food back to the room and boiled some eggs. There is a 3 course lunch which is very filling and then afternoon tea which was fruit juice and a cake then evening meal, again 3 course but much lighter than lunch. Wine is very reasonably priced. As soon as she saw our passports which gave our age as 65 she relaxed but the next guy did the same thing, asked our ages and I knew enough and said "she has checked our passports".  The accommodation was brilliant, large open rooms (for wheelchair access), high ceilings and lovely patio.  The sitting room had a small kitchen area across the back of it. The staff were lovely and helpful despite our poor French. There was a small but good gym with a dance studio, an art/craft room which I was very impressed with and a swimming pool, not large but perfectly ok. It had a useful gadget of a large nozzle which puts out a strong jet of water that you can swim against.  Unfortunately the Jacuzzi was broken. The grounds and communal areas were kept very clean, our room was cleaned the first week but not the second although we were told that the rooms were cleaned twice a week, nope and as everyone goes off duty is was lucky we had our own toilet rolls as they had not been replenished. A couple of gripes, It was tricky getting the wardrobe as the bed side table got in the way and the door kept opening on it's own.  There was no anti slip mat in the shower which given it is for the elderly is quite dangerous and apart from the radiator there was nowhere to hang towels, robes etc. There is a ridiculous drying rack that pulls out, when it is out it overhangs the toilet which is ridiculous. We could not open the bedroom (outside) door fully and there were no fans or air conditioning, as it gets so hot in that part of the world, one out of the 3 would have been good idea. I am concerned that there was no emergency button in the pool area or anywhere else that I could see. I know some residents wore watches which were alarms but not to have one in the pool area I think is very wrong.  It is a short distance to several eateries.   

If you have just one lunch or dinner it brings the price down to very reasonable and if you have both meals given that a simple meal out is at least 40 euros for two probably without wine, it is excellent value.

Well-placed residence just 1.4 km from the centre of Royan Spacious and quiet apartment The downsides: - a large stay fee to pay - housekeeping not carried out in the apartments while trash cans are changed and beds made.
