The cleanliness of the hotel is desirable, and I couldn't even sleep in my room. At midnight a group of drunk men came in and took us out without reason. We ended up spending the night in the living room.

What a disaster!

I really have mixed feelings, staff was very helpful, room was disaster, we booked one bed room with two beds, we got that expect one small detail, one bed was broken, to cover it they put two mattress. at the end we slept in one. after all we took one weekend get away, so I did not want to complain. I do not recommend this hostel to anyone. only reason that they got three stars from me is because of the receptionist who was really kind and helpful.

Stayed one night Sept 15, 2018, and had all the difficulties other posters have posted.

1. NO desk focal to greet
2. Bathroom area small and locks don't work
3. No security lockers for luggage
4. Kitchen limited utensils, etc to use

One of the lower quality hostels in all of Czech.

Weird Hostel Few Amenities

This was an odd one. Was glad to share my dorm with a French girl, other than that the only sign of life was the girl who checked me in, for 2 mins, and briefly two Czech  guys who looked like they were workers fr out of town.kitchen had two forks, no sharp knife and one working ring. Room was hot and I got mossied. 10 mins walk to downtown and seems like the only true budget option in  Pilsen, so I guess this place was  fine.

Odd place

The hostel is near the center, it looks like a rented house in the Krasnodar region. There are no amenities except the bathroom. There is no dining room, there is no kitchen.

The hostel has one downside: the kitchen is dirty, it's very dirty, there's no equipment, there's no towels, after the shower the whole room is in the water, there's no driver on the counter, there's no WiFi When you leave, you forget some things in the room, and you can't get to the hostel anymore, because you can only get out of the door at 8am, and you can't get back in anymore.

It's a terrible hostel.

The location is good, not far from the city center. The reception is not manned 24 x 7, so sometimes it can be a problem. There are 2 dormitories on the 1st floor, for 4 & 8 people. There is a small dining room & a reasonably good kitchen. The problem is with the bathroom & toilet. There is only 1 bathroom for 12 people. There are 2 toilets (for 12 people) but only 1 was functional during my 5 days of stay there. And both the toilets could not be locked from inside, leading to awkward situations !! They did try to get it repaired, but did not succeed.  The receptionist was helpful with directions. However, there is no common place people can sit together & gossip. Of course you can do that in your respective dormitories.

Improvement is desired

I'll discuss the positives first. The hostel is located a relatively short walk from the main train station and a bit further from the bus station. The main sites of interest, the old town and brewery are easily accessible on foot. The bed I slept in was comfortable and I had an undisturbed night's sleep. The wifi was also reliable.

As I arrived in the afternoon I was met by the guy who worked there who checked me in. He then explained the hostel is only manned from 14.00-22.00 and at checkout I should leave my keys in the deposit box. This poses a potential problem for people with luggage as there is nowhere to leave it if you arrive early or you plan to leave later. The hostel provides a number you can call to help resolve this issue, however with my non-existent Czech language skills this seemed too much hassle and I ended up simply taking all my belongings with me when I left. There is a lock to the main front door and to the dorm, however I was not provided with a locker for my valuables, meaning you have to keep them with you or trust your fellow dorm-mates not to steal or leave the doors unlocked. Other minor criticisms were that the kitchen seems a little grubby and lack of lighting in the shower. Finally, it seems a little expensive for what you get.

Pack lightly and keep your valuables with you

I was thanking God for just one night there over a wooden countertop you go into a newly built house the room lets you wish it was clean but a simplest IKEA bed that is nailed together on the sides with shelves there is not even a TV there are no towels inadequate toilet paper there is no setup except for a bed a table two chairs of plastic no more no more forearms at the door there is also no curtain on the existing bar where you can almost go to the room shudder through the glass door the covers not all it cable out of the sides no more early possible.

Hostel River is a real tribute!!!!!!!!!!

It's relatively dirty, and it's already a little down, and the staff isn't very friendly, and they're not very hardworking, and there's a lot of empty bottles of booze and beer around for a couple nights, okay, but no more.
